The best shots are always the most unexpected. Despite waking up at 4am to find the city below socked in with fog as usual, I had a feeling it would still be worth it. The drive up to Mount Tamalpais State Park usually take about an hour but the fog this morning was spectacularly thick. The never ending winding roads and the ever present deer leaping around made the drive almost 2 hours. Finally arriving at the gate around 6:30 AM, only to find that the park doesn't officially open until 7 am. The exact time the sun is expected to rise...Ooops!
Once the ranger finally showed up I was still unsure if the fog would ever clear, but about a quarter mile past the gate I found my head finally rising above the clouds...Hallelujah!!! Thankfully I had my spot already in mind, so I was off like a shot...to get my shots.
